Just wanted to introduce myself to all of you. I’m Vivian Luckiewicz, your Pennsylvania State Representative. First, I need to ‘fess up: I am actually from South Jersey. I have a 15-minute ride to downtown Philadelphia, where I’ve spent my workdays for over 20 years. It’s a great place to work, rich in history, culture and the arts, and of course, the “birthplace of independence”.
I work in-house for a Medicare Advantage health plan where I have exposure to all areas of the law, from corporate (my area of expertise) to real estate to contracts to litigation. I’ve been with the company for 18 months now and I can honestly say that I learn something new everyday.
Prior to moving in-house, I worked for a large law firm, in the corporate and securities department. I started at the law firm as a legal secretary in 1985 and was promoted to corporate paralegal in 2000.
I attended Rutgers University as an English major; obtained my paralegal certificate from Blackstone Career Institute in Emmaus, Pennsylvania; received my A.S. in Paralegal Studies from Peirce College, an ABA-approved paralegal program, in Philadelphia, in December 2008; and if all goes according to plan, I will graduate with my B.S. in Paralegal Studies from Peirce College in December 2009.
I am certified, through the Keystone Alliance of Paralegal Associations, as a Pennsylvania Certified Paralegal. I sat for the Paralegal Advanced Competency Examination sponsored by the National Federation of Paralegal Associations in June 2009, and am anxiously awaiting the official results of the test!
I am a member of the Philadelphia Association of Paralegals, the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, the National Association of Legal Assistants, the Philadelphia Bar Association (Associate Member), and the Peirce College Student Paralegal Association.
