Poll Question: Do you think law firms should designate levels of seniority for paralegals, e.g., Sr. Paralegal, Jr. Paralegal, w/Pay levels? If law firms designated structured levels of seniority with known pay levels and higher levels of responsibility, it will give paralegals the motivation and recognition they need.

Like partner, associate, junior associate. It just makes sense.

I’m in favor of anything that provides more of a structured career track. I wouldn’t “publish” the salary levels, as I think should should be confidential. But they should exist. If you do far advanced and more difficult work, you should be paid better and recognized for that.By Janet M. Powell, Senior Paralegal at Jackson Lewis LLP

I am in agreement with Janet. Actual knowledge of salary amounts never result in anything favorable. Perhaps designating ranges is the way to go! Education and experience should be rewarded in dollars, as with every other profession.

I agree with Janet and Michelle. I like the idea of pay levels (pay is confidential) and I believe that if you are a more advanced paralegal you should get recognized and paid better for achieving that

I believe like Janet that it would be a more structured career path. I think salary should somehow reflect your level of experience and complexity of your work but I don’t believe it should be published. However established pay ranges within the levels are a good thing.
