Missouri Paralegal Association (M.P.A.)
Description: The Missouri Paralegal Association (M.P.A.) was incorporated in 1998 as a Missouri non-profit corporation for the following purposes: 1) to develop and advance the highest quality standards for education, ethical responsibility and professionalism; 2) to provide Missouri paralegals with a forum for the exchange of information and ideas; 3) to increase the knowledge of the public, the judiciary and the legal community of the role and the benefits of the paralegal profession; 4) to offer and support continuing legal education (CLA) programs for paralegals; and 5) to provide a unified voice for addressing issues affecting the paralegal profession at state and national levels.

St. Louis Association of Legal Assistants (SLALA)
Description: The St. Louis Association of Legal Assistants (SLALA) is a non-profit association formed to promote the advancement of the legal assistant profession in the St. Louis area through encouragement of high ethical and professional standards and to provide access to information and education for legal assistants, and other legal professionals.
SLALA is affiliated with The National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA). Each member of SLALA is bound by NALA’s code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility.
SLALA supports legal assistants through continuing education programs, seminars and workshops. The association promotes the profession by working with various paralegal programs in the St. Louis area. It work with the local and state bar associations in the adoption of standards for legal assistants in this rapidly growing field.

The Kansas City Paralegal Association (KCPA)
Description: The Kansas City Paralegal Association (KCPA) is a professional association for paralegals in the Kansas City area. KCPA is a non-profit corporation which was incorporated on September 24, 1975. NALS of Missouri
Description: NALS of Missouri is a multi-level state association consisting of local chapter associations within the state of Missouri, uniting persons in work of a legal nature for the purpose of exchanging ideas, increasing knowledge of the law, and stimulating a higher order of business and professional attainment. Missouri Western State University
Description: : The Missouri Western State University Legal Studies Program offers a course of study designed to prepare the individual to work in the legal profession. A student in this program will be taught the skills needed to obtain an entry-level position as a legal assistant or to continue a legal education. The skills a student will learn include legal research, interviewing, investigation, legal drafting, preparation of evidence and witnesses for trial, and assisting in the trial of a lawsuit. This program prepares individuals for career opportunities in law firms of all sizes, corporate legal departments, legal aid offices, public defender or prosecuting attorney offices and municipal legal departments. The certificate requires at least 30 hours of college credit prior to enrolling with at least 18 hours of classes, including college English. The certificate requires 33 hours of legal studies course, nine of which are restricted electives. A bachelor’s degree is not required, though many students already have one.

Brown Mackie College
Description: Brown Mackie College’s Paralegal program prepares graduates for entry-level employment with attorneys and in law firms. Students develop a solid foundation in communication and problem solving skills through general education coursework. Johnson County Community College
Description: The Johnson County Community College Paralegal program has been approved by the American Bar Association since 1980. The ABA standards and guidelines pertain to organization, administration, curriculum, faculty, admissions, placement, library and support facilities. The Johnson County Community College Paralegal program is the only ABA approved program in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
