Description: Kansas Association of Legal Assistants (KALA) is the professional association for the Kansas Association of Legal Assistants. Formed in 1981 and affiliated with the National Association for Legal Assistants, Inc. (NALA), KALA endorses recognition of a system of professional credentials for legal assistants/paralegals through certification, legal education, and/or specialized training.

The Kansas City Paralegal Association (KCPA)
Description: The Kansas City Paralegal Association (KCPA) is a professional association for paralegals in the Kansas City area. KCPA is a non-profit corporation which was incorporated on September 24, 1975. KCPA aims to promote and encourage the development of the paralegal profession. It also strives to provide opportunities for networking among paralegals on the local, state and national levels. KCPA also aims to offer quality continuing education for paralegals.

Kansas Paralegal Association (KPA)
Description: KPA is a professional association which offers membership to paralegals/legal assistants, students, paralegal educators, and institutions with an interest in supporting the purposes of the organization. KPA was incorporated on June 16, 1977 as a non-profit organization under the name of The Kansas Legal Assistants Society. In 1996 the organization changed its name to Kansas Paralegal Association.

Johnson County Community College
Description: Johnson County Community College is located in Overland Park, KS, a suburb of Kansas City. The ABA approved paralegal program was started in 1977 and the ABA approved Legal Nurse Consultant program was started in 1998. Faculty members are attorneys or paralegals. The Director is an attorney and has been associated with the College for approx. 20 yrs. Both the LNC and Paralegal programs are selective admission programs. The JCCC library has legal materials, both in print and electronic format. Among the extensive student services are Admission and Academic Counseling; Financial Aid; Student Housing Association; Student Government; Internships; Alumni Association; and Placement Assistance.
