Description: The AUM Justice and Public Safety Department has offered an American Bar Association-approved Paralegal Certificate program for nearly 20 years. The three options for earning a Paralegal Certificate in the ABA-approved program are: a Bachelor of Science degree in Justice and Public Safety–Legal Studies track (4 years/120 semester hours); a Master of Science in Justice and Public Safety–Judicial Administration Option (2 years/30 semester hours); an ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate program in conjunction with AUM’s School of Continuing Education, available to students who have already completed 30 semester hours of general college credit (10 courses).

Community College of the Air Force
Description: A student is required to complete the Air Force paralegal apprentice and craftsman courses to satisfy the technical core requirement. Courses listed as Technical Electives can also be used to fulfill program electives. Requests made to substitute comparable courses, or to exceed specified semester hour values in any subject or course, have to be approved in advance. They must complete as part of degree program, and they can be applied as technical, humanities, or general education elective. The American Bar Association has approved this degree program.

Description: The paralegal studies program offers classes on the Wallace Drive Campus, Gadsden, and the Ayers Campus, Anniston. Day and evening classes are available. Many of the required courses are offered online. This program is designed to prepare students to perform paralegal work in law offices, legal departments of corporations, banks, governmental agencies, etc.

Samford University
Description: A Paralegal Certificate is awarded on successful completion of both a degree and ten required legal specialty courses. The program offers three options: 1) if a student already holds a bachelors, they need only complete the ten specialty courses to earn their certificate; 2) if a student has an associates, they may concurrently pursue a bachelors degree along with the paralegal certificate. The ten required courses count towards the bachelors degree; 3) if a student has no degree, that student must pursue at least an associates degree along with the paralegal certificate. Courses taken for the certificate will count towards the associates degree.
The Program is committed to producing well educated, capable, and ethically aware graduates who, although they may not provide legal services directly to the public except as permitted by law, are prepared for careers as paralegals to attorneys in private, public, and corporate settings.

South University
Description: South University received the American Bar Association’s (ABA) approval to offer seven legal specialty courses from its Associate of Science in Paralegal Studies program in an online 5½ week delivery format. The other four legal specialty courses must be taken in a traditional classroom format at South University - or at an institution approved by South University that’s convenient.
Extensive practical training prepares graduates, under the supervision of an attorney, to perform many of the functions in a legal office, including but not limited to, assisting attorneys with interviewing clients and preparing legal documents and cases for trial. Paralegals cannot give legal advice, set fees, or represent clients in court.
